One Day on Earth 12.12.12

I had a down day on December 12, 2012 so I decided to participate in One Day on Earth. It is a cool project in which people from around the world share videos all shot on 12/12/12. You can then navigate an interactive world map and watch videos from specific locations. Some of the footage will be selected by the One Day on Earth producers and put into a feature film. I watched the last film they produced on Netflix and it was really cool. I didn’t have a specific story or project so I just shot some random stock footage around my home town including sunrise over the New York City skyline, The Hudson River, children playing in a playground, American flags, veteran’s graves in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery and my wife making raw almond milk. This is intended to be a “watchable archive” of footage rather than a complete story with a beginning, middle, and end. Thanks to Edwin Kuo and Lana Pattinson for taking time out of their day to bring their children, Alex and Cammie, to the playground, Aleksandra Winters for making amazing raw organic food, and my cats Sushi and Kizia-Mizia for being so loveable and awesome. Enjoy!

Morocco Photoset

I just uploaded 60 photos from my recent trip to Morocco. Back in Sept./Oct. 2012 Aleksandra and I went there to celebrate our 10^th wedding anniversary. It was the trip of a lifetime that included camel rides, deserts, camping, mountains, old women in caves, shopping, villages, goats in trees, mosques, cities, oceans, wild monkeys, markets, palaces, wizards, and warlocks. Well, OK, no wizards or warlocks, but who needs them when there are goats in trees and old women living in caves who balance buckets of water on their heads for your entertainment. Big shout out to Alain Bennouna of Cynab Voyages for organizing the incredible trip for us. 60 photos barely scratch the surface of this trip, so I’ll probably be adding more over time so keep checking back. Enjoy!

Personal Passion

I am very fortunate to work on so many great productions. There is nothing better than collaborating with great people and contributing my vision to the project. However, sometimes I need to work on my own personal projects in order to keep the creative juices flowing.

My good friend and local pro downhiller, Elinor Wesner, needed a promotional video to show potential sponsors. My passion outside of cinematography is mountain biking so this was a perfect fit. The video production was completely “do it yourself” with me running around like a madman with a small Canon 5D DSLR camera and Elinor hitting trail features several times so we could get multiple angles. After 2 days of shooting I took the footage home and edited it on my laptop.

What was only supposed to be a little demo piece for Elinor to send to sponsors has grown into a video that has been extremely well received by the general public. It has been published in some of the biggest mountain bike magazines including DIRT Magazine and Decline Magazine as well as blogged by Sicklines.com, OnlyMTB, BikesOnly, and featured in the prestigious Pinkbike.com “Movies for Your Monday”
