It was a cold, dark, snowy, winter evening. The room was dark – illuminated only by the glow from my TV and the sodium vapor street lamps that peeked through my windows. The soundscape was sparse, consisting only of snowflakes hitting the walls of my house and a faint hum from my stereo that had finished playing a movie some time ago. I was slouched in my favorite comfy chair slowly drifting into a deep sleep with an empty bottle of Old Fezziwig Ale slowing freeing itself from the clasp of my hand. Suddenly the Mac “New Mail” sound waked me. I was able to grab the bottle of Old Fezziwig before it slipped out of my hand and shattered on my floor. Phew!
I wish I had a better story to tell after that buildup, but this will have to do and I am tired so I will speed it up now. I stumbled over to my computer and saw a new e-mail from David Geffner, the Executive Editor of ICG International Cinematographers Guild Magazine. He said they wanted to do an article about The Oprah Winfrey Oscar Special for their February 2011 Awards Issue.
I agreed and he put me in contact with Debra Kaufman who conducted a phone interview with me. As you can see, I attached the portion of the article that includes my interview to this blog post. Click on an image to zoom in on it. You will learn what a Mickey is as well as the power of a GoBox. Thanks to David for reaching out to me and to Debra for taking the time to do a great interview. If anyone has a copy of the show please let me know because I haven’t been able to secure one. There is a bottle of Old Fezziwig in it for you! Cheers!
